My office chair has been on borrowed time for a while now. Technically it still works — it’s comfortable, even — but the height mechanism gave up years ago, the creaking has become a permanent background noise in my home office, and the cushion has compressed into something closer to a wooden plank. It’s time.
After some searching, I landed on the Proseat by Clouvou, a German brand. There’s something reassuring about Deutsche GrĂĽndlichkeit — that very German obsession with doing things properly — when you’re investing in something you’ll sit in for eight hours a day.
But honestly? What tipped the scales was the color options. Almost every decent office chair comes in black or dark grey, which makes perfect sense in a corporate office and zero sense in my living room. Clouvou offers the Proseat in a beige/white colorway, and that alone felt like a minor revelation. A chair that might actually belong in the space it lives in.
Now I wait for delivery from Bol.com, that is where I ended up ordering it (only for NL & BE). My creaky, frozen-in-time companion will not be missed.
